Role objectives
  • Provide individual and group health education and awareness raising sessions on predetermined health promotion topics including, but not limited to prevention of malaria, vaccine-preventable diseases such as (COVID-19, polio, TB, HBS, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, H-influenza, pneumonia, Rota, measles) in the service delivery points and outreach locations.

  • Ensure delivery of COVID-19 immunization and routine immunization activities based on MoPH/WHO immunization policy strategy and contribute to the immunization microplan for outreach teams in consultation with project health assistant/PEMT on monthly/quarterly basis.

  • Provide COVID-19 vaccines and routine immunization to migrants, IDPs and host community population in target provinces as available.

  • Ensure safety of COVID-19 and routine immunization vaccines (observing Vaccine Vial Monitors), prevent vaccine wastage, regular record vaccine storage temperature, and strictly maintain cold chain system at all times.

  • Respond immediately to any cold chain irregularity using local resources including transferring Vaccines to other closest health facility with cold chain system and report to project Health Assistant.

  • Timely prepare vaccines need request to PEMT, strictly maintain infection prevention protocols and attend the national EPI events as appropriate.

  • Actively seek out communities in need of COVID-19 and routine immunization vaccines and other activities, including regular disease outbreak monitoring, collect statistical information, take part in the health awareness campaign, etc.

  • Actively mobilize the community to immunize their all over 18-year-old population to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.

  • Contribute to the consistent and accurate collection of data into the KOBO system - COVID-19 vaccinations in the service delivery points and outreach locations.

  • Maintain a daily checklist of all cold chain equipment and vaccines to ensure that all vaccines are prepared and fully stocked.

  • Assist in the overall management of vaccines stocks— record-keeping, standard reporting, and prepare Vaccines requisitions for the next months.

  • Provide complete accurate and on time monthly activity reports, entered daily into KOBO system.

Education:

Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution and having a valid certificate for the three months initial MOPH/ NEPI immunization training.


Experience:

  • At least one year experience in relevant vaccines services in the field level.

  • Previous experience in international organization is an advantage.

  • Knowledge and experience with working in the vaccination and the related provinces will be considered an advantage.

  • Effectively applies knowledge on providing service skills, bedside manner, infection control, administering COVID-19, maintenance, surveillance data collection, Health Education etc.

  • Previous practical authentic experience on providing immunization will be advantageous.

  • Works effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.

  • Working in emergency and development project.

SKILLS

  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, rapidly changing environments.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with implementing partners.

  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends when necessary.

 

Languages

  • Fluency in Dari and Pashtu Languages required.

  • Working knowledge in English
