Role objectives

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  

Under the direct supervision of Media support officer and over all supervision of UNICEF Communication Specialist, the 7 extenders will perform the following duties.

  • Reports

Duties & Tasks

  • Prepare reports on Polio and other UNICEF programs as needed

  • Preparation at least 4 reports with 2 on Polio on monthly basis

  • Visit the provinces in respective regions to prepare report for the RFERL

  • Prepare at least 4 reports in a month on Polio, Health, Immunization, and any other UNICEF program as needed

  • Prepare videos from the field for UNICEF social media and take photos

  • Prepare video reports for Azadi radio social media platforms on Polio

  • Additional reports on Polio campaign, polio cases etc.

Monitoring and tracking misinformation/rumors  

·        Under the supervision of the Media Support Officer, the reporters will monitor the situation and will prepare report accordingly

·        The reporters will contribute to polio campaign monitoring in their respective regions

Skills

  • Ability to speak and write well in Dari and Pashto. Knowledge in English is an asset

·        Ability prepare quality report for radio

·        Ability to prepare video report for TV, social media, and website

·        Ability to take good photos and videos

·        Ability to prepare success stories for Polio Free Afghanistan social media platforms

·         Good relations with media groups, press club and department of information and culture in their respective regions

QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES

  1. Education

University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Communication, Journalism, Media studies, Social Sciences, IR

  1. Work Experience

5 or more years of relevant professional work experience. Experience as journalist, reporter or editor with any national, subnational or international media channel.  

  1. Language Proficiency

Fluency in Dari and Pashto is required. English language is an asset.
