Overview of position

Our client's office for Yemen is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing, and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture, and rural development priorities under Yemen. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. The main aim of the our client country offices, which are headed by an our client  Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, program, and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. 

Role objectives

Provide technical analysis of Yemen’s financial and banking sector and support localization of green finance instruments Specific Tasks:

Conduct detailed assessment of domestic banking systems, financial intermediaries, and lending structures relevant to climate finance 

Map existing banking products, credit lines, investment practices, and institutional capacities 

Identify barriers to green lending, including liquidity, collateral, risk perception, and policy constraints 

Assess opportunities for integrating green finance into commercial banks, Islamic banks, MFIs, and community financing structures 

Support design of banking-compatible financial products such as green loans, SME green windows, Sharia-compliant products, and microfinance schemes 

Engage directly with banks and financial institutions to validate practicality of proposed financing instruments 

Support recommendations for integrating climate considerations into lending, credit appraisal, and portfolio development 

Contribute to practical implementation pathways for operationalizing green finance within Yemen’s banking sector


Project reporting

Report to Project Manager 

Key competencies

Advanced degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field 

Minimum 5 years of experience in Yemen’s banking sector, financial institutions, lending systems, or financial product development 

Strong understanding of commercial banking operations, Islamic banking, microfinance, SME finance, and credit systems in Yemen 

Familiarity with Central Bank regulations, lending constraints, and domestic financial sector operations


Team management

This role does not have team management responsibility
