Geographical experience Minimum of 5 year/s of experience in Somalia (desirable).
Languages Fluent in English (essential).
Working level in Somali (desirable).

Overview of position

Our client plays a vital role in supporting African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). The position of Logistics Assistant is situated within the Mission Support Centre, which forms part of the organizational structure within Service Delivery Pillar in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Role objectives

Under delegated authority, the Logistics Assistant will undertake the following duties:

  • Coordinate and provide logistics support for ongoing air, land, or sea within the designated area.

  • Identify and mobilize resources for special logistics operations, oversee their implementation, and report on progress.

  • Deliver and coordinate logistics support to military, police, security, and substantive components of the mission.

  • Draft and coordinate logistics plans and other documents required for the implementation of logistics operations, as directed by the Section Chief.

  • Prepare and coordinate inputs to logistics reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other information documents needed by management, including inputs required by UN Headquarters.

  • Liaise and coordinate logistics support with other sections within the Client, such as transportation, communications, movement control, and Engineering.

  • Coordinate logistics requirements with other UN Missions and Agencies.

  • Liaise and coordinate logistics support with UN Headquarters.

  • Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are in place and that all relevant records are maintained.

  • Ensure that logistics requirements address gender-specific needs.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Project reporting

This role will report directly to the Chief Mission Support Centre.
