Overview of position

CTG is looking for a qualified Webmaster for our operations. This role is being advertised for talent pool building purposes, once the project goes live, only those candidates that are shortlisted will be contacted.

Role objectives

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Digital Communication, the Webmaster is responsible for the management, maintenance, and development of the Radio Okapi website, playing a key role in the implementation of digital strategies and the creation of online content, and will assume the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the proper functioning of the website, including regular and daily content updates.

  • Monitor website performance and carry out technical adjustments when necessary.

  • Produce, edit, and publish written, visual, and multimedia content.

  • Collaborate with journalists and technicians to ensure content remains current and relevant.

  • Implement SEO best practices to improve the website’s visibility.

  • Analyse traffic data and adjust content strategies accordingly.

  • Ensure consistency of messaging across all Radio Okapi social media platforms.

  • Track and analyse website performance using analytics tools.

  • Provide regular reports on user engagement and content performance, explain findings, and deliver additional reports upon request.

  • Provide technical support to internal users regarding the website.

  • Collaborate with developers and other specialists to resolve technical issues.

  • Train staff on the use of the website and digital tools.

  • Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge in web technologies.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and be available, if required, to work weekends, public holidays, non-working days, and outside the standard 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. schedule, according to assigned shifts.

Performance indicators include but are not limited to:

  • Number of content items updated or published each week.

  • Average response time for resolving reported technical issues.

  • Frequency and quality of web traffic analysis reports.

  • Quality of training delivered to Radio Okapi staff.

Expected results include but are not limited to:

  • The Radio Okapi website is dynamic, regularly updated, and error-free. Content complies with Radio Okapi’s values and applicable standards.

  • Web content production is ensured, the website’s security is maintained, and periodic backups are completed on shared drives and SharePoint, as well as in designated archiving locations, within the established timelines.

Project reporting

This role reports to the line Head of Digital Communication.

Key competencies
  • Master’s degree in digital communication, journalism, communication, or other fields related to this position.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience with progressive levels of responsibility in web design, web management (webmaster), or related areas.

  • Fluency in French and in one other national language of the DRC is required; knowledge of English would be an asset.

Team management

This role has no team management responsibility.
