Overview of position

Working under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office, the direct supervision of the CCCM Officer & Senior Project Assistant. The selected candidate will work within selected camps & camp like settings as well as in hosting communities, informal sites & areas of return supervising hourly contracted staff who include Camp Coordination & Camp Management (CCCM) mobile teams consisting of Site Assistants & Community Outreach Volunteers (COV's). The selected candidate will be under the daily supervision of the Senior Project Assistant CCCM & will supervise CCCM field tasks, such as coordination, the development of site governance structures, feedback mechanisms & overseeing the implementation of minimal site maintenance projects.

Role objectives

  • In collaboration with the CCCM Officer ensure that there is adequate coverage of sites hosting IDP populations by the CCCM mobile teams.

  • Ensure that the CCCM field staff (CCCM mobile teams & Site Facilitators) provide adequate support to the camp management agencies i.e. SEMA & NEMA.

  • Undertake regular field travel to monitor & guide CCCM program implementation in designated locations.

  • Ensure there is proper monitoring & reporting of activities being done by camp management, government agencies, national & international NGOs, UN organizations & other relevant stakeholders in the sites being covered by the CCCM mobile teams.

  • Guide & provide on the job training to CCCM field staff & SEMA camp managers of their duties.

  • Support SEMA / NEMA in the establishment of representatives, IDP committees that reflect age, gender & diversity of the IDP population at site level.

  • Promote set up of youth & women empowerment groups in the sites.

  • Support implementation of communication with communities’ activities in designated locations.

  • Ensure that the CCCM multi sector site tracker & other databases are updated on a weekly basis by the CCCM field staff.

  • Extract reports from the CCCM multi sector site tracker for analysis.

  • Ensure that all CCCM field staff & Camp Managers understand & carry out their duties in accordance with the humanitarian principles, core values, the Code of Conduct (CoC) & Prevention of Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (PSEA).

  • Ensure there is an effective referral mechanism in all IDP sites covered by the CCCM field staff & SEMA / NEMA Camp Managers.

  • Commit to enforce & advocate for decisions taken by the CCCM / NFI / shelter sector working group at field level.

  • Attend coordination meetings in clusters, technical working groups & task forces representing our client when delegated to do so.

  • Discharge any other relevant duty as assigned by the CCCM Officer or Senior Project Assistant.


Project reporting

Key competencies
  • Bachelors in social science or behavioural science with two years of relevant professional experience or a high school degree / certificate with 3 years of working experience.

  • Previous experience in camp management related work.

  • Previous experience in CCCM capacity building is an added advantage.

  • Two year experience in humanitarian work.

  • Fluent in English, Tiv, Idoma, Igede & other languages spoken locally in north central Nigeria.

  • Previous experience in humanitarian work.

  • Training or certification in CCCM activities.

  • Takes responsibility for action & manages constructive criticisms.

  • Works effectively well with client & stakeholders.

Team management

The selected candidate will be supervising hourly contracted staff who include Camp Coordination & Camp Management (CCCM) mobile teams consisting of Site Assistants & Community Outreach Volunteers (COV's).
