Overview of position

CTG is looking for candidates whose experience match this TOR.

Role objectives
  • Drive our clients trucks and other vehicles for which you hold a valid driver’s license on official assignments countrywide.

  • Ensure that our clients food commodities and non-food items are transported to the destination and consignee specified on the waybill without pilferage, damage or any undue delay.

  • Obtain the signature of the consignee on the waybill upon delivery of cargo (food and non-food items) to the specified destination and return the signed waybill to the origin warehouse or EDP.

  • Detect mechanical and electrical faults on the vehicle and report them immediately to the Fleet Manager.

  • Carry out preventative maintenance on your truck and assist with basic servicing.

  • Ensure the vehicle is taken for servicing or repair as and when required in a timely manner.

  • Maintain mileage logbook and ensure all fuel issued is entered accurately into the logbook.

  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy at all times.

  • Check, before driving the vehicle, on a daily basis, all oil, lubricants and water levels, as detailed in the vehicle daily inspection sheet.

  • Report any accident/incident or damage to the vehicle to the Fleet Manager as soon as possible.

  • Report all pilferage and damages to commodities without delay to the Fleet Manager.

  • Act as security during the loading and off-loading of the vehicle.

  • Ensure that the vehicle first aid kit is not abused and is replenished as and when required.

  • Check daily the serviceability of all communications equipment, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, toolkits, and any other equipment that may be fitted in the vehicle and report immediately if any equipment is damaged or missing.

  • Follow the rules and regulations for safe driving.

  • Comply with vehicle tracking communications procedures and notify our client base of any security incidents promptly.

  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Fleet Manager, as and when required.

Project reporting

This role reports to the line manager.

Key competencies
  • Have a national identity card.

  • Submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae.

  • Provide a blank certificate of good conduct and morals.

  • Hold a valid driving license for heavy vehicles.

  • Proof of a minimum of seven (10) years' experience in driving heavy trucks.

  • Have a good level of spoken and written French.

Team management

This role has no team management responsibility.
